With a population of 500,000 in 2007, Nuremberg sits on the Pegnitz River in the Bavarian region about 100 kilometers north of Munich. Famous for the Nuremberg trials, this ancient Bavarian city has a long history dating back to the Holy Roman Empire.

It is also the famous market for the local delicacy, gingerbread, which can be bought from small bakeries in the main square and elsewhere. There are also famous stone commercial buildings and wooden buildings in the old city.
