Tarot Cards Meanings
Hello Steven here, and thanks for reading my article. If you are looking for more Tarot card interpretations I am glad you found this site. This article is written to provide clear and concise information to anyone who wants to know how to read Tarot cards. I have been interested in tarot for a long time and have found that there is a lack of clarity in Tarot readings.
The origins of the Tarot cards are shrouded in influences from various cultures and are rumored to include Egyptian wisdom, the Mithras religion, ancient pagan beliefs and Celtic paganism. Their first recorded use was in southern Europe in the 14th century, where they were used for mixed educational purposes and playing card games. Different packs have been designed to teach different subjects such as logic, Greek Mythology, Religion, Geography and the art of carving animals and fish. The origin of the name Tarot probably comes from the Italian word ‘Tarocchi’, which comes from the valley of the Taro River in northern Italy. Modern Tarot cards are said to descend from the French Tarot of the Marseillies, which contains 78 cards with 22 trumps. The most important history of Tarot cards being used in spiritual matters dates back to 1781, when a Swiss occultist, religious leader and freemason Antoine Court de Belin wrote about the meanings of the Tarot cards in his book on civilization. It is believed that tarot cards hid information about the structure of the world that was hidden in a simple game by Egyptian priests to prevent the loss of their knowledge in the world of religious civilization. The first fortune teller who used Tarot cards was Alliette of Paris. It is believed that tarot card readings indicate future events such as travel, grief, love and luck.
To read, the deck is usually changed by the title, and it is placed in one of the different types called “spreads”. It is then interpreted by the reader in the study. There are many ways to set up cards for reading. Here are three of the most popular publications:
Three Card Spread
Three cards are chosen and the first represents the past, the second the present and the third the future.
Five Answer Cards
They are often used to help the subject with one or more questions they have at that time in their lives. The five selected Tarot cards are used to show:
1. The current situation the question relates to.
2. What caused the problem.
3. What response is required.
4. Problems may arise.
5. Possible result after action.
Tarot Card Calendar
Twelve cards are chosen which are placed in a circle in front of the subject. The person is usually asked to turn over a card near the 1 o’clock position in the deck of cards. This card represents how things will be in the next month. This continues around the circle and each card connects to the requirements of each subsequent month.
Preparation of tarot cards
The deck is divided into two parts called Major Arcana and Minor Arcana. This section deals with the Court cards and Spot cards in the modern deck of playing cards. There are also 78 Tarot cards, with 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards.
The Major Arcana
These cards have no suits and are cards whose appearance in a tarot card reading reveals something important.
Stupid Power
The Magician The Hanged Man
High Priest Death
The Empress Temperance
The Devil King
High Priest Tower
The Lovers The Star
Chariot Moon
Justice The Sun
The Hermit The Angel
Wheel of Fortune World
The Minor Arcana
It consists of fifty-six cards, divided into four suits of fourteen cards each; ten numbered cards and four suits. The court cards are the King, Queen, Knight, and Page, in the four suits of the tarot. The suits are wands, cups, swords and pentacles.
Each deck is the same as the normal playing cards (ace to ten), plus the Court card, Page.
Playing cards similar to tarot suites are:
• Wands… Clubs
• Cups… Hearts
• Swords… Spades
• Pentacles. Almonds
Each suit refers to a specific area of the human life, thus there are four main spheres of life, which are represented above by the star signs of Fire, (desire), Water, (mind), Air, (mind), and Earth. (material).
The following table can form the basis for interpreting each of the 56 cards of the Minor Arcana:
Valued Values

Two – Between two people Nine – Social
Three – Collect Ten – Win
Page Four – Fulfillment – Reflection
Five – Turning Point Knight – Energy Drive
