Disney’s Magic Kingdom Vacation, 2007
The only thing my daughter wanted for her 7th birthday was to go to the Magic Kingdom. I booked a 2 night stay at the newly renovated Royal Plaza, Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotel in Lake Buena Vista. The hotel is within walking distance to Downtown Disney and is located in the middle of the 4th which is very convenient.
The hotel was $130.00 per night and the hotel was worth every penny. Royal Plaza is a beautiful hotel with large rooms and a good restaurant. There was a Disney gift shop on the 1st floor where we could get information and buy tickets.
The Royal Plaza Hotel has shuttle buses to all of the Disney parks and they pick up and drop off in front of the hotel. Bus 1 leaves at 8:30am which was great because we got to the Magic Kingdom at 9am when it opened.
We had two 7 year olds with us so we wanted to make sure we got there by 9am so we could beat the crowds and hit all the kids rides at fantasyland and Splash Mountain. My daughter is only 7 years old but she loves splash mountain. When we arrived at the Magic Kingdom I was surprised at how many people were already waiting to get on the monorails. We took the monorail to the main gate and quickly found two large baby strollers.
We rushed to Splash Mountain where there was no waiting. It had been a while since the trip and I was surprised at how long the trip had been. It’s not like a flume ride that takes you up high and drops you down. Splash Mountain takes you on a slow and leisurely ride through the mountain with plenty of well-executed activities to enjoy. Splash Mountain is based on the story of brear rabbit and kids love it. I’m not a fan of thrill rides but the flume descent at the end of the ride was really bad.
Here is a list of rides and other attractions at Frontierland
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Tom Sawyer Island
Country Bear Jamboree
Frontierland® Shootin’ Arcade
Pecos Bill Café
Then we went to what must be a world famous place for children, Fantasyland. I am 38 years old and I have many memories of spending summer vacations in Fantasyland as a little kid with my brothers. It’s great to be a parent and be able to see your children enjoy the things you enjoyed as a child. We hit the Peter Pan ride for the first time which is our favorite part of Fantasyland. This ride gives you the feeling of flying through the night.
He left for the nearby Little World where there was no waiting. This ride is probably the most popular and well-known ride in the Magic Kingdom. Children enjoy this tour because it shows children doing many fun things with music and singing. The fact that it is a slow moving boat is a plus for children. I’ve been home from Disney for a week and I still have this little world song in my head.
We then rode Cinderella’s Golden Carousel where we found Mary Poppins signing autographs and posing for pictures. The kids were excited to get their first autograph of the day during this time. Then we went on the trailer which is fun for both adults and children.
Our next stop was at a car ride that I have only been on once in my life and that was way back when I was a kid. The Mad Tea Party ride is where you sit in a tea cup and you and your friend or family can spin the cup as fast as you want by turning the wheel in the middle of the tea cup. I get motion sickness and when I went on this ride as a kid I got sick and never had the courage to try it again.
This surprise was our last stop in Fantasyland because the kids wanted to go to Mickey’s Toontown Fair to get autographs from the kings and see Mickey’s house. A good part of a day can easily be spent in Fantasyland. There is so much to do and see there and the only downside is that the area tends to get crowded and crowded. Here is a list of some of the rides and attractions at Fantasyland.
“It’s a small world”
Peter Pan’s Airplane
PhilharMagic for Mickey
The story is Belle
Snow White’s Scary Adventures
Cinderella’s Golden Carousel
Dumbo The Flying Elephant
More Winnie the Pooh Fun Facts
Mad Tea Party
Cinderella’s Royal Table – Dining Dreams
Cinderella’s Royal Table – Dreams Come True
Pinocchio Village Haus
We then walked a short distance to Mickey’s Toontown Fair where these attractions are located.
Minnie’s Country House
Toontown Hall Of Fame
The Judge’s Tent
Mickey’s Country House
Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm
The area is perfect for small children and every ride is geared towards them. It’s a great place with lots of things to do and see. The most popular attractions here are Mickey’s Country House and Princess autograph and photo opportunities. Lines for princess autographs are inside the large gift shop next to Mickey’s Country House and be prepared to wait if you don’t get there early in the afternoon. A Mickey Mouse autograph can also be found here but the main draw is the kings!
The Walt Disney World Railroad stops in this area which is great because you can take a break and relax on the train while standing in line for royal autographs. Mickey’s Toontown Fair is a unique place that will leave you and your children with wonderful memories.
Just around the corner is the very popular Tomorrowland with its high tech rides as well
future construction. This seemed larger than life to me as a child and it scared the crap out of me. My favorite ride as a kid was the Indy Speedway where you could race in a pint Indy car around a nice track. I have a daughter and she never enjoyed the trip so we skipped the trip.
We headed straight to the Tomorrowland Transit Authority which is a slow ride that takes you around Tomorrowland and inside Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear. Next, we had lunch at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café. This cafe is big with fast food like burgers and chicken dishes. A foreign musician is playing the piano and speaking on a stage near the front door. This is a great place to take a break and grab a bite to eat before heading back out into the crowd.
We rode Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin which I have to say was a blast! This was my first time on this trip and my daughter and I had fun trying to shoot the target with our laser weapons. This is a great ride for kids with all its lights, sounds, and laser blasts. We got out of the ride and got Stitch signing autographs so we waited in line and took pictures with Stitch.
Here is a list of rides and other attractions at Tomorrowland.
Monsters, Inc. Laughing Floor
Tomorrowland Indy Speedway
Tomorrowland Transit Authority
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
Galaxy Palace Theatre
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Stitch’s Perfect Escape!
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café
Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station
Space Mountain is the main attraction at Tomorrowland. It’s a roller coaster that resembles a train and the whole ride is in the dark which makes it really fun. I remember as a teenager waiting in line for hours to ride Space Mountain. Tomorrowland is a great place for young and old and you can spend hours there.
