Nigeria Versus Equatorial Guinea: All African Games Qualifier Match Preview
Nigeria’s U-23 team dubbed Dream team V will on Saturday March 26, 2011 meet their fellow Guineans in a crucial match to qualify for the upcoming Olympic Games at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Nigeria. The team has been in camp for over a week preparing under the guidance of Coach Austin Eguaveon.
One of the most important points of the game is that the winner will have the opportunity to represent Africa in the football event of the 2012 Olympic Games.
The Nigerian team
The Nigerian team is made up of foreign and home-grown players who have extensive club experience. A rare event that would have seen the senior team coach clash with the Olympic team coach was thwarted, as three players who were previously called up for Nigeria’s African Nations Cup and Ethiopia were sent to the Olympic team. Prominent among the invited experts are Lukman Haruna of Monaco FC of France, Terna Suswarn of Victoria Setubal of Portugal and striker Odion Ighalo who led the U-20 National Cup team at the 1999 FIFA Junior World Cup held in Egypt.
Equatorial Guinea team
Not much is known about the team, as they do not have a regular star in their squad. This unknown has become a major concern for the experts of the Nigerian Olympic team.
