The Ghanaian Way
As a 25-year-old Ghanaian, it still amazes me what happens around me every day in this country. Yes, I was born and raised here; I have never seen an airport, let alone this country to call me a soldier.
In Ghana, the basic transport is the “trotro” (minivan). Let’s face it, it’s cheaper than a taxi and we don’t have trains like India. The average Ghanaian cannot afford to hire a taxi because even our economy is not stable. Don’t get me wrong, I love my country, but it’s disappointing when one US dollar costs two Ghana cedis, the least anyone can do here is sell and politicians want to be seen as gods when they do nothing for the country. when he is in power.
On the positive side, Ghanaians are hospitable people, something that foreigners like to take advantage of, especially the Chinese. We love peace and unity, and we love football (soccer). Our love for the game is well known. With famous names like Micheal Essien, Kevin prince Boateng, Abedi Ayew Pele and his son Dede Ayew, etc. I think some foreign countries did not know this country until the world cup.
In Ghana, we love our culture, a good example would be asante in the Ashanti region. Otumfour osei Tutu II and ASANTEHENE (chief of the asantes) in my opinion are more noble than the prince of wales (no offense to the British). One must see him, especially when it’s time for their celebration. She is decorated with gold from head to toe and our traditional cloth, “kente”. The gold that is on him is so heavy that his servants have to hold his hands.
For one thing, Ghanaians tend to be attractive. With the help of television and the global Internet, Ghanaian youth are becoming more and more westernized by the day. Our highlife style of music turned into hiplife, with the help of ‘godfather’ Reggie Rockstone. Currently the Ghanaian music industry has hip-hop, dance-hall and niger music (beats from Nigeria). I really like these types of Ghanaian music, in my opinion it is not right and proper to raise the flag of other countries when it is easy for us today to raise our flag.
This article is just the beginning. ‘The Ghanaian Way’ will be a story about Ghanaians and our country. good and bad and stupid. Thoughts are like noses, everyone has them. this is mine. Until next time.
