His full name is Robert Emmanuel Pires. He was born on 29 October 1973 in Reims. Pires is of Portuguese and Spanish ancestry. His playing position in the field is as a winger/midfielder. Pires can play as a central midfielder or as a supporting striker although he usually plays on the left side. He is a French footballer who currently plays for Spanish club Villarreal.
At club level, he played for major clubs such as Metz in 1992-1998, Marseille in 1998-2000, Arsenal in 2000-2006, and Villarreal in 2006 -.
