This showed the popularity of Hockey in India. Fuerste also admitted that Indian Hockey fans are more than German fans. This revelation came as no surprise as hockey is India’s national sport but on the other hand Germans are football fans.
Recently Sardar Singh’s profile was further enhanced as he was appointed captain to lead the Indian eighteen men hockey team in the second edition of the Hero Hockey World League which will be held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium from 18 February. to 24.
